Surgery Update

Paisley had her third major surgery on October 4. The doctors placed a ventricular shunt in her brain to help drain excess fluid in her ventricles. The shunt is a permanent, artificial piece that will stay under the skin on her head for life. Although it is a painful surgery, it was a necessary one, and we have begun to see the pressure come down. Paisley is much more comfortable, and like the fighter we know, she is continuing to recover.

Paul and I met with the doctors to talk about Paisley's trajectory, and expectations for the future. Because Paisley's airway is floppy, she will need the vent support for at least the next year. We will be transferring from the NICU to a subacute facility in Campbell as soon as she is stable enough. At this facility Paisley will be able to recover and do the baby things she deserves. We will be working with her on her learning and development, and for Paul and I it's our time to learn how to take the best care of our little fighter with the hope one day to take her home with us.

Thank you to all who have continued to pray for baby Paisley. She is an inspiration for us, and a constant reminder of God's greatness, mercy, and love. Sawyer is so amazing, and although Paul is working two jobs, he has forged a relationship with Sawyer that is unlike anything I have ever witnessed. We have so much beauty in our lives because of our children. A special thanks to a dear friend Cassie who made the journey from Seattle to meet Paisley 💕.

Thank you for thinking of us, for praying for us, and for the love and hope you have given us in this continued journey.
